Telgian is pleased to announce that Executive Chairman Russ Leavitt has been appointed Chair of the Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria NFPA 13 Technical Committee. Leavitt has been involved with the NFPA code and standards development process for nearly two decades. In addition to the Technical Committee for Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria, he also serves as a member of the NFPA 25 Technical Committee, the Technical Committee for Commissioning and Integrated Testing (NFPA 3 and 4), the Building Code Technical Correlating Committee (NFPA 5000) and the Sprinkler System Installation Criteria Technical Committee (NFPA 13).
Leavitt is an industry leader in the fire, life safety and security space and offers almost 35 years of fire protection industry experience. He holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout, as well as a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation. In addition, he is a Board Member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Leavitt also serves on the NFPA 13 Installation Committee, as well as NFPA 3, NFPA 4 and NFPA 25 Technical Committees.
An internationally recognized fire sprinkler system expert, he is a frequent speaker at professional and industry conferences and is a senior instructor for the NFPA Professional Development series, the American Fire Sprinkler Association seminar programs, and for Fire Smarts LLC.
In addition, Leavitt has authored numerous industry articles and training materials including the American Fire Sprinkler Association AFSA Training Guide for NICET Certification in Inspections and Testing and the AFSA Hydraulics online training courses. He was also a major contributor for the NFPA 25 2011 Handbook and has served as the subject matter expert for the NFPA Sprinkler Track in their professional development series.
