Telgian’s Tom Parrish will present "Fire Alarm System Initiating Device Basics” and “Fire Alarm System Notification Devices”The 2019 New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Seminar, October 22-25, is an annual event designed to keep fire inspectors aware of technological and code changes and to provide background information in the field of fire prevention. The event features some of the country’s top experts in the fire prevention industry including Telgian Vice President Tom Parrish. He will present “Fire Alarm System Initiating Device Basics” and “Fire Alarm System Notification Devices” on Wednesday, October 23.

Parrish’s career includes over 25 years of experience in fire protection and emergency response. He has held positions with municipal fire, law enforcement and emergency medical services and in private industry system design and installation programs.

He also serves on several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. In addition, Parrish is a Board Member of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) and is a senior instructor for NFPA. His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician.                         

In addition to Parrish’s presentations and other industry experts’ seminars, the 2019 Conference agenda includes a keynote address by former United States Fire Administrator Chief Ernest Mitchell, a networking session, guided code-related discussions, and a “train the trainer” Stop the Bleed program.

The 2019 New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Seminar is hosted by New York State Homeland Security and Emergency Services, as well as the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. Attending the courses provided at the Seminar will meet the 24 hour in-service credit requirement.
