Telgian fire protection expert Ray Dotts will present a Fire Smarts “Fire Alarm System Commissioning” online training opportunity on October 14, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm Eastern. The Fire Alarm System Commissioning webinar will explore the purpose and benefits of system commissioning, as well as the process for commissioning including testing initiating devices for alarm conditions, testing tamper switches and other warning devices for supervisory alerts, and verification that notification devices function in the event of an alarm. Documentation best practices will also be covered, as well as how that information should be distributed to the stakeholders.
This webinar is part of the monthly Fire Smarts series which explores timely fire protection industry topics and innovation solutions. Each event is taught by an industry-leading expert, such as Dotts. As a veteran instructor and speaker, Dotts has more than 40 years of experience including fire alarm design and installation experience and works for Telgian Engineering & Consulting. He holds fire alarm licenses from multiple states, is a Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician and is board certified as a Physical Security Professional by ASIS. He has conducted large-scale fire alarm projects for all levels of commercial, educational, hospitality and multi-family residential buildings.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees will understand the role of the commissioning agent, be able to explain how to perform functional testing and system verification and understand the documentation requirements for AHJ’s and building owners.
