Telgian Corporation’s Vice President Tom Parrish is slated to speak at the North Eastern Ohio Fire Prevention Association, NEOFPA, Two Day Seminar on Monday October 15th. The event is sponsored by NEOFPA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of fire safety through education and code enforcement.
The Two Day Seminar is an opportunity for fire inspectors and investigators, fire department officers, firefighters, building officials and inspectors, plans and fire protection systems inspectors, and other fire safety professionals to enhance their knowledge in the areas of fire inspection, investigation, and fire protection systems.
Parrish’s workshop, “NFPA 72® Standard Update,” examines the latest safety provisions in the application, installation, location, performance, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, supervising station alarm systems, public emergency alarm reporting systems, fire warning equipment and emergency communications systems (ECS), and their components. As a member of several NFPA technical committees, including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems, Parrish is uniquely qualified to discuss the most significant changes to NFPA 72, which total over 600 for 2019.
“I am honored to be invited to speak at the NEOFPA seminar,” says Parrish. “Changes to NFPA 72 impact all fire safety professionals. Within this seminar, I hope to provide a clearer understanding of, not only the important technical updates, but also the effects that these will have within the industry.”
In addition to Parrish’s NFPA 72 Standard Update workshop, the event will showcase a variety of industry experts and subjects including, “Lakewood Arson Fire, Murder for Hire,” “Code Requirements for Rapid Entry Systems,” “Firefighter Safety,” and more. A total of 12 CE hours will be available for either Fire Prevention and/or Fire Investigation. Tested Fire Investigation hours will also be available.

About Tom Parrish, Vice President, Telgian Corporation
Tom Parrish has more than 25 years’ of experience in fire protection and emergency response. He has held positions with municipal fire, law enforcement and emergency medical services, and in private industry system design and installation programs. He serves on several NFPA technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. Parrish is also a board member of AFAA and is a senior instructor for NFPA.
His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician. Parrish is board-certified as a Physical Security Professional by ASIS and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from the Kean University of New Jersey.
