Telgian Engineering & Consulting’s Senior Fire Protection Consultant Pamela Reno will present a Fire Smarts Online Training Opportunity on June 11, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm Eastern Time. Reno’s “Understanding Joint Commission Life Safety Requirements” webinar provides an overview of The Joint Commission, as well as specific areas that fall within their jurisdiction.
This overview of the requirements for fire and life safety is based on NFPA 101, Life Safety Code. It will include life safety design and building construction, as well as means of egress including design of space, travel distance, egress illumination and signage. Specific emphasis will be given to the protection provided by door features and stairs, along with other vertical openings such as corridors, smoke barriers and fire alarm notification. In addition, fire suppression systems, fire sprinkler systems and interior finishes will be covered.
Reno offers more than 15 years of experience in, and knowledge of, concepts, principles and practices of fire prevention, fire protection and life safety engineering. As an accomplished speaker, she conducts presentations and seminars across the country on a wide variety of fire protection topics. Recent examples include seminars conducted at the SFPE Greater Atlanta Fire Safety Conference in Atlanta, Georgia and Fire Protection and Life Safety Forum in Columbus, Ohio. Reno also shares her expertise as an author with fire protection industry publications in useful articles such as “Fire Safety Considerations for Facilities” in Facility Safety Management, among others.
She also plays an integral role in industry codes and standards development. Reno’s code development committee experience includes Principle Member, NFPA 99 – Fundamentals Committee; NFPA 99 – Healthcare Emergency Management and Security; and Alternate, NFPA 101 & 5000 – Board and Care Facilities.
