While water spray systems for vapor mitigation have long been used in the industrial environment, many are unaware of the requirement for a Fire Risk Analysis as outlined in NFPA 15 ‘Standard for Water Spray Fixed Systems for Fire Protection.’ To explore requirements and implementation techniques for consideration when conducting an analysis, fire protection industry expert and Telgian Engineering & Consulting, LLC (TEC) Regional Practice Leader Keith Butler will present a Fire Smarts “NFPA 15 Fire Risk Analysis for Water Spray Systems” webinar. The virtual event will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm (Eastern).
Butler has more than 13 years of fire protection experience and has managed projects for high hazard industrial occupancies including refineries, bulk plants, tank farms, power plants, aircraft hangars, storage / warehousing, and transportation facilities around the globe. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and was the recipient of the ‘40 under 40’ award from Consulting Specifying Engineer magazine. Butler is also an active member of the Society of Fire protection Engineers (SFPE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and US Green Building Council (USGBC).
During the course, Butler will provide an overview of NFPA 15 requirements, real world examples and implementation techniques to consider when conducting an analysis. In addition, he will discuss the fundamentals of vapor clouds and their inherent danger, focusing on the potential impact to people, property, and reputation.
