Phoenix is the hottest city in the country. Not only did Maricopa County tragically record 425 heat-related deaths in 2022, the numbers have been rising steadily for the past decade. But this summer, even high temps by Phoenix standards seem tame compared to the record smashing numbers being posted day after day.
In addition to heat exhaustion and heat stroke, the frequency of contact burns from surfaces such as pavement, car doors, metal railings and garden hoses is of great concern.
As part of Telgian’s ongoing commitment to the Arizona Burn Center – Valleywise Health, the company recently held a Flip Flop Drive for patients without suitable shoes for the heat being discharged during the excessive heat wave. The Flip Flop Drive for Valleywise Health Foundation was held in response to an emergency need for shoes so that vulnerable patients could be safely discharged without the threat of contact burns from the pavement.
Flip flop donations from Telgian’s numerous locations across the country were gathered at the Phoenix headquarters and distributed to the Arizona Burn Center.
The Arizona Burn Center is Arizona’s only nationally-verified burn center and provides critically injured patients one of the highest survival rates in the nation. To learn more, visit the Arizona Burn Center.
