What Codes Apply to Fire Alarm Systems? Presented by Telgian's Tom ParrishTelgian is a proud sponsor of the upcoming 18th Annual Texas Fire Marshal’s Conference, taking place in Austin, Texas October 16-21, 2016. This conference has an annual attendance of approximately 300 fire marshals from across the state of Texas. At the event, attendees learn the latest about fire prevention, code enforcement, national standards and public education. During the conference, Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP, Vice President of Integrated Systems at Telgian Corporation, will present What Codes Apply to Fire Alarm Systems?  

The installation of fire alarm systems are code driven or driven by an owner’s requirement. When an alarm system is installed, it must be installed properly based on various different codes. NFPA72 and NFPA 70 apply to all installed alarm systems. Building codes establish when a system must be installed as well as some of the operational parameters. This session will include an overview of what codes apply to alarm installations as well as an overview on how the electrical code NFPA 70 works. Parrish’s presentation will available during three different time-slots:

Parrish is the Vice President of Integrated Systems at Telgian Corporation, and has more than 25 years’ experience in fire protection and emergency response. He leads the company’s efforts for jurisdictional compliance, serves on the training and code development committees, and manages the internal security and life safety program for all Telgian facilities. Mr. Parrish has held positions with municipal fire, law enforcement and emergency medical services and in private industry fire safety system design and installation programs. Today he still serves as an on-call firefighter certified in firefighting, emergency medical treatment, and hazardous materials response. Mr. Parrish represents Telgian on several NFPA technical committees and is a regular presenter at its meetings and seminars. Mr. Parrish’s professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, and Master Electrician. He is board certified as a Physical Security Professional by ASIS and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from the Kean University of New Jersey.
