Water Mist for Retrofits and Advanced Application WebinarTelgian Engineering & Consulting’s Paul Buchanan will present a Fire Smarts Water Mist for Retrofits and Advanced Application webinar on June 10, 2021 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm Eastern. This course builds upon the introductory course “Water Mist Applications for Fire Protection.” Buchanan will focus on the use of water mist systems to retrofit existing structures, as well as specific applications with industrial fryers, data server rooms, and lithium-ion battery protection.

Participants will learn how water mist suppresses or extinguishes fire in various applications, as well as the benefits of water mist systems when retrofitting existing structures. In addition, attendees will learn how water mist protection applies to industrial kitchens, data centers and energy storage systems.

Water mist systems are ideal for historic structures containing dated artifacts and for applications where minimal water use is preferred. During the webinar, participants will gain an understanding of the FM Global Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet 4-2 titled “Water Mist Systems” for these applications.

Buchanan’s background includes work as an NFPA associate engineer, providing formal interpretations of NFPA codes and standards. He previously was an applications engineer, designing and commissioning water mist fire suppression systems throughout North and South America. He is experienced with storage application design and is a certified trainer for a leading water mist system manufacturer.

This webinar complies with ICC CEU requirements for ICC approved training courses (CEUs: 1 contact hour). These can be used as supporting documentation for CPD points, which are required for NICET certification. In addition, certificates of completion for the webinar can be used as supporting documentation for credit hours required for re-certification as part of the UCC program, as well as for Texas Commission on Fire Protection certifications.
