Events & News

Virtual Fire Sprinkler Training Courses Telgian Engineering & Consulting’s Chief Engineering Officer Tracey Bellamy, PE, CFPS, CWBSP will conduct two days of virtual fire sprinkler training on November 9 and 10. Bellamy has more than 25 years of experience in the fire protection community including all areas of the fire sprinkler industry. His expertise includes fire suppression system design and fire hazard analysis, as well as fire protection system testing and inspections. In addition, he serves on several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical and correlating committees including NFPA 13, 15, 16, 25, 30, 30B, 101 and 5000 (building code).

Bellamy’s November 9 course, “Residential Fire Sprinklers: Homes to High-Rise,” is an 8-hour workshop that covers the protection of residential occupancies. Residential occupancies are unique, with distinct requirements for the use and location of sprinklers. Systems installed in accordance with NFPA 13D and 13R are strictly life safety in their purpose, while those installed in dwelling units as allowed by NFPA 13, are a part of a larger protection scenario. This course examines the requirements for each document and the desired protection objectives.

NFPA 13 Chapter 8 devotes nearly four-fifths of its content to the installation requirements for sprinklers. With nearly 5,000 specific sprinkler listings and applications, understanding how to use and apply the information found in Chapter 8 is critical to the successful operation of sprinklers during a fire event.
