Tom Parrish Presents, “NEC - How Does it Apply to Fire Alarm Systems?” at 2022 Annual AFAA Fire ExpoFire protection expert Tom Parrish will present “NEC – How Does it Apply to Fire Alarm Systems?” on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM. The presentation is part of the 2022 Annual Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) Fire Expo, which will be held May 3-5, 2022 at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.

“The National Electrical Code (NEC) can be a daunting code to learn and understand. Too many people involved in the fire alarm industry fail to realize that you need to look at more than just Article 760,” explains Parrish. “This session will attempt to de-mystify the NEC and allow attendees to gain an understanding of how it works, and which sections to consult when installing fire alarm systems.”

As a veteran instructor and speaker, Parrish has more than 25 years of experience in fire protection and emergency response and is the retired Fire Marshal for Putnam Township Michigan, as well as Vice President of Telgian Corporation. He serves on several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical committees including NFPA 72 Emergency Communication Systems and NFPA 1221 Emergency Services Communications, among others.

In addition, Parrish is the current Vice President of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) and is a senior instructor for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician.
