Telgian Executive Chairman and NFPA 1st Vice Chair Russell Leavitt was recently honored with the NFPA Committee Service Award. Each year, the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Standards Council recognizes individuals for outstanding service to the organization in the development of codes and standards.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from NFPA,” says Leavitt. “The association’s steadfast commitment to advancing fire, life, and electrical safety has been helping to save lives and protect property for 125 years. This global force is dedicated to advancing safety worldwide and I am proud to be a part of this important mission.”

He received the Standards Council Special Achievement Award in 2018 for his leadership in the reorganization of NFPA 13.
In addition to serving as NFPA 1st Vice Chair, where he works with the association to deliver safety information, knowledge, and training worldwide, Leavitt has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2014. He has also been a member of several Board of Directors Committees including Governance and Nominating (2016 – present), Compensation (2015 – present), and Finance (2013 – present).
