Telgian Engineering & Consulting President Len Ramo, in conjunction with UL Staff Engineer Christopher Gates, will present “Performance-Based Fire Protection: Application Consideration for Full-Scale Fire Testing” on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the SFPE Europe Fire Safety Engineering Conference & Expo in Málaga, Spain. The presentation will cover the basis and considerations of performance-based fire tests, application considerations for use of full-scale testing and the actual process used to conduct acceptable and recognized test methodologies. In addition, real life examples of problems solved with full-scale fire testing, such as cost / benefit and purposeful testing of items other than those outlined prescriptively by Code, will be included.
“Performance-based fire protection and full-scale fire testing is generally thought of as cost-prohibitive,” explains Ramo. “The world, however, is changing rapidly, and the need for solutions is fast outpacing the prescriptive code development cycles. Performance-based testing provides an efficient means of developing solutions to real world problems.”
Ramo is a registered fire protection engineer throughout the US and Canada, as well as a Certified Fire Protection Specialist. He has been involved in the development, execution and implementation of large-scale fire test programs for over 15 years, and has supported numerous clients around the globe, creating solutions to challenging and complex problems.
