Telgian Fire Safety Vice President Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP, Telgian Engineering & Consulting Chief Engineering Officer Tracey Bellamy, PE, CFPS, CWBSP and Telgian Executive Chairman Russ Leavitt, SET are slated as guest speakers for the upcoming American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) AFSA43 Conference.
The event, which is the largest fire sprinkler exhibition in the country, will be held September 18-21, 2024 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, CO. AFSA43 will introduce the latest technology in the fire sprinkler industry and includes seminars, exhibits and a yearly apprentice competition. The American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) is a non-profit trade association whose membership includes fire sprinkler contractors and designers, manufacturers and suppliers of fire sprinkler products and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
Tom Parrish, SET, PSP, CFPS, CFI-1 CFI-2 CFPR
As a veteran instructor and speaker, Tom Parrish, Telgian Fire Safety Vice President of Compliance and Training has more than 30 years of experience in fire protection and emergency response. He serves on several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems.
Parrish is also a senior instructor for NFPA and the Immediate Past President of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA). His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician.
His presentation, What is a Dedicated Function Fire Alarm System? will be conducted on Friday, September 20, 2024, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. During the session, Parrish will explore when it is necessary for a building to have a dedicated sprinkler monitoring system. Most model codes require fire sprinklers to be electronically supervised and changes in the IBC require electronic supervision of many valves. Parrish will explain the specifics of what is required, what would be connected to the dedicated function system, as well as when the monitoring requirements take effect.
Tracey Bellamy, PE, CFPS, CWBSP
With over 30 years of experience in the fire protection industry, Telgian Engineering & Consulting Chief Engineering Officer Tracey Bellamy is a Fire Protection Engineer, a Certified Fire Protection Specialist, and a Certified Water-Based System Professional. An SFPE fellow, his background includes fire suppression system design, fire hazard analysis and fire protection system inspection, as well as fire safety systems testing.
A respected industry leader in the industry, Bellamy is active at the highest levels of NFPA and is a member of the NFPA Standards Council. Additionally, he serves on several NFPA committees, including NFPA 13, 15, 16, 25, 30, 30B, 101 and 5000, and is currently chair for NFPA 15. He is also a major contributor to the NFPA 13 and 25 Handbooks and holds professional engineering licenses in Fire Protection and Civil Engineering in 49 of the 50 states and all the U.S. territories.
Bellamy’s first presentation, “Latest in Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS),” is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. During this session, Bellamy will discuss in detail the global supply chain, which is experiencing an increased use of automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS). These storage systems present unique and quickly evolving fire protection challenges. This seminar provides an overview of the latest in ASRS protection and will benefit contractors, enforcers, engineers, and designers working with ASRS.
His second presentation, “FPRF Project: Multi-Rack Storage” will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM. The Fire Protection Research Foundation (FPRF) project on the protection of multi-rack storage was led by Bellamy and will have a lasting impact on NFPA 13 protection criteria. In this presentation, he will provide the history of the project and the most recent updates.
