Fire, life safety, and security services industry leader Telgian Engineering & Consulting today announced that President Leonard Ramo has been selected to serve on the SFPE Committee on Outreach and Advocacy (COA). Committee Members are appointed by the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Board of Directors and the commitment is for a three-year term.
The SFPE Committee on Outreach and Advocacy (COA) is responsible for advancing the recognition of the profession, as well as increasing the public’s awareness of the profession and the services provided. Further, the Committee guides the SFPE and its chapters in reaching out to the public, to allied professionals, to industry members, and to the code enforcement community for the purpose of increasing the stature of fire protection engineering and fire safety engineering. In addition, the SFPE Committee on Outreach and Advocacy (COA) recommends and monitors positions taken by SFPE on emerging technical, legislative, and regulatory issues.
As a Committee Member, Ramo brings significant industry experience to the table. Ramo’s career spans more than 20 years as a practicing fire protection engineer, consultant, and executive. Currently, Ramo is President of Telgian Engineering & Consulting, a full-service global engineering and risk mitigation consultancy specializing in complex, multi-discipline public and private sector projects.
In addition to the SFPE Committee on Outreach and Advocacy (COA), Ramo serves on the SFPE Committee on Outreach and Advocacy (COA), is the past president of the Central Gulf Coast Chapter of SFPE and served on the SPFE 2019 Nominating Committee.
As an internationally recognized industry professional, he also plays an integral role in fire protection international codes and standards development by serving on select National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) committees. Ramo currently serves as a Principal Member of the Committee on Standard for Water Tanks for Private Fire Protection, NFPA 22, an Alternate Member of Committee on Life Safety, Mercantile and Business Occupancies, NFPA 101, and an Alternate Member of Committee on Life Safety, Mercantile and Business Occupancies, NFPA 5000.
His professional accreditations include registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in all 50 U.S. States, District of Columbia and select Territories, as well as P. Eng. in select Canadian Provinces. Ramo is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and holds a U.S. Department of Homeland Security CVI certification.
