Russell B. Leavitt, executive chairman of Telgian Holdings, Inc., a worldwide provider of comprehensive fire, security, life safety consulting and engineering/design services, delivered the keynote address on behalf of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) last week at the International Fire Conference & Exhibition Malaysia (IFCEM). The presentation, titled “Global Fire and Emergency Services Challenges: Together We Can Do More,” focuses on NFPA’s mission to reduce fire-related loss and how the organization works with members of the international fire services to achieve this goal on a global scale.
“Fire can affect anyone, no matter where they reside. It is important for the international community of fire safety professionals to come together and share expertise to continually improve fire protection for all people,” said Leavitt. “I am honored to represent NFPA at IFCEM in Malaysia at this international fire conference to discuss ways we can increase collaboration to foster innovation and advancement in fire safety, rescue, disaster management and security.”
NFPA, a global, nonprofit organization devoted to eliminating death, injury, property and economic loss due to fire, electrical and related hazards, works to increase awareness of proper safety codes and procedures by promoting worldwide use of its technical and educational information. Leavitt serves in leadership positions across multiple NFPA committees and has served on its board since June 2014. He is current chair of the Sprinkler System Discharge Technical Committee for Automatic Sprinklers (NFPA 13) and serves on the NFPA 25, NFPA 3 and NFPA 4 technical committees, along with correlating committees for NFPA 5000 and NFPA 13.
