Telgian fire protection expert Russ Leavitt will present a Fire Smarts “NFPA 13 2025 Edition Update” webinar on November 14 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET.
Changes in fire sprinkler protection design criteria, installation methods, and component technology are taking place faster than ever. This training course will provide a review of the revisions for the 2025 edition of NPFA 13 ‘Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems’. Leavitt will focus on non-storage related changes impacting Basis of Design, system equipment and materials, dry pipe systems requirements, the installation of vacuum systems, the installation of supplemental sprinklers, corrosion protection, and remote inspections and testing.
Russ Leavitt is the Executive Chair of Telgian Holdings. With over 42 years of experience, he holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout and Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation. He is immediate past chair of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Board of Directors. He is the former chair of the NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria technical committee and continues to serve on the committee along with the NFPA 13 Installation committee as well as the NFPA 3, 4, 909, and 914 technical committees.
At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will understand the NFPA process for revising its codes and standards, learn how to identify and locate significant changes to sprinkler system types, understand revisions regarding remote inspections and testing for systems acceptance, and learn the new requirements of corrosion monitoring and mitigation.
