Introduction to Smoke Control Systems webinarA smoke control system is intended to control the movement of air in a building and is part of the crucial components and may use a variety of methods to achieve its design objective, which is typically to maintain a tenable environment long enough for all occupants to safely exit the building. To share more about smoke control systems, Telgian Engineering & Consulting fire protection expert Eddie Farrow will present the Fire Smarts Introduction to Smoke Control Systems webinar on February 9, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET.

The Introduction to Smoke Control Systems webinar will cover the purpose and components of these systems as well as provide an understanding of design, construction, commissioning and maintenance considerations.

Upon completion, attendees will be able to describe a smoke control system, as well as explain when and where smoke control systems are required. In addition, participants will be able to Describe proper maintenance of smoke control systems and understand the design considerations for smoke control systems.

About Eddie Farrow

With more than 18 years experience in fire protection and life safety consulting and design, Eddie Farrow is the Assistant Regional Practice Leader for the Southeast Region at Telgian Engineering & Consulting, LL (TEC). He has managed projects around the world for numerous occupancies including healthcare, industrial, and mercantile, but has had a particular focus on high rise residential and commercial facilities throughout his career.

His expertise includes code consulting, performance based design, smoke modeling (hand calculations and computer analysis – CFD – FDS) and zone modeling analysis (CONTAM). Additionally, he has extensive experience in egress analysis (hand calculations and computer analysis – Pathfinder), hazardous material analysis, special inspections (atrium and stair pressurization), due diligence and negotiating with Authority Having Jurisdictions.
