Fire, security and life safety services provider Telgian Corporation announced today that Telgian Executive Chairman Russell Leavitt will present at the 2016 Fire Sprinkler Americas Conference, February 24-25, at the Intercontinental Medellin in Medellin, Colombia. At the international fire sprinkler conference, Leavitt will present a seminar entitled “NFPA 13 2019 Edition: A Proposed Reorganization,” which focuses on sharing the progress of the sprinkler system discharge for automatic sprinklers (NFPA 13) committee task group’s proposed changes to the 2019 edition of NFPA 13. The presentation will give attendees an understanding of what to expect from the reorganization of NFPA 13 and provide them with a general timeline for next steps. Leavitt’s session will take place Thursday, February 25, from 11:35 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. COT.
“It is extremely important as a fire and life safety professional to stay informed of any changes to codes and regulations,” said Leavitt. “I look forward to the opportunity to present proposed changes to NFPA 13 and engage in discussion with this group of highly skilled professionals around ways the International Fire Sprinkler Association can get involved.”
Leavitt serves on the board of directors for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and as the chair for the technical committee on sprinkler system discharge for automatic sprinklers (NFPA 13). Leavitt additionally serves on the NFPA 25, NFPA 3, NFPA 4, and NFPA 909 Technical Committees along with the correlating committee for NFPA 13. Leavitt is a nationally recognized expert in fire sprinkler systems and was awarded the Henry S. Parmelee Award in 2013, recognizing an outstanding individual who has dedicated himself or herself to the professional advancement of the fire sprinkler industry.
The 2016 Fire Sprinkler Americas Conference is the second gathering of its kind sponsored by the International Fire Sprinkler Association and features two days of informative presentations by world-renowned experts in the automatic fire sprinklers field. This year’s conference continues the dialogue started at the first conference in 2014 around the need for properly designed, installed and maintained fire sprinkler systems in Latin America. The International Fire Sprinkler Association was formed in 1999 by the National Fire Sprinkler Association to encourage the use of sprinkler systems around the world.
