Telgian fire protection industry expert Ralph Bless will present a Fire Smarts “NFPA 13 – Fire Sprinkler Systems Plan Review and Acceptance Testing for AHJs” webinar training opportunity on January 26. This webinar part of the Washington State Fire Marshal’s 2021 Fire Sprinkler Training Schedule.
The course introduces participants to the approval of fire sprinkler systems and includes a review of the design documents and an onsite verification of the completed system. The training is geared toward Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and takes attendees through a step-by-step review of fire sprinkler working drawings, the accompanying hydraulic calculations, and the requirements for acceptance testing of the system.
The NFPA 13 – Fire Sprinkler Systems Plan Review and Acceptance Testing for AHJs course utilizes the requirements found in NFPA 13 and 13R. Attendees will work with an actual fire sprinkler working plan and the accompanying hydraulic calculations.
Presenter Ralph E. Bless, Jr., PE, CFPS, SET is the Vice President, Account Management of fire protection engineering, safety, and security industry leader Telgian. Bless has more than 38 years of experience in fire protection, including a broad range of water-based and special hazard system design, code consulting, and fire protection engineering services.
In addition to several state and national certifications, Bless is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist, a licensed Professional Engineer, and a Level IV NICET Senior Fire Sprinkler Layout Technician. He also holds a Level II in Inspections & Testing of Water Based Systems, a Level II in Fire Alarm Systems, a Level II in Special Hazards Systems Layout, and a Level I in Special Hazards Systems.
As a force for positive change in the fire protection industry, Bless chairs the NFPA 232, Technical Committee for Record Storage. In addition, he serves as a member of five other NFPA committees. This includes NFPA 1, NFPA 13 Installation and Correlating, NFPA 15 and NFPA 915, the NFPA 15 Technical Committee for Water Spray Systems, NFPA 13 SSI (Installation), and the Correlating Committees.
All Washington State Fire Marshal’s 2021 Fire Sprinkler Training Classes are eligible for CEU credits. To receive credits and/or a Certificate of Attendance, participants must attend the entire training session.
