Fire Sprinkler System Design and Installation UpdateTelgian fire protection expert Russ Leavitt, SET, CFPS will present a Fire Smarts “Fire Sprinkler System Design and Installation Update” online training opportunity on July 14, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm Eastern. The Fire Sprinkler System Design and Installation Update webinar is based on NFPA 13 ‘Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems’ and provides an update on the recent developments for the design and installation of fire sprinkler systems.

Issues such as the analysis of water supplies, hazard selection, evolving sprinkler technology, and system design criteria are discussed. Leavitt will also review the latest information regarding the use of antifreeze solutions for freeze protection, automated testing, and the protection of storage.

Learning objectives for this webinar include understanding the requirements for analyzing water supplies and the ability to explain the design objectives for sprinkler systems. Upon completion, attendees will also be able to describe the requirements for using antifreeze solutions for freeze protection and identify the challenges regarding the protection of storage.

This webinar is part of the monthly Fire Smarts series which explores timely fire protection industry topics and innovation solutions. Each event is taught by an industry-leading expert, such as Leavitt. As a veteran instructor and speaker with 42 years of experience, Leavitt conducts seminars internationally on a variety of fire and life safety related subjects and has authored numerous articles and training materials.

Leavitt is the Executive Chairman of fire protection, life safety and security industry leader Telgian Holdings, Inc.  He holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) He is also the Chair of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Board of Directors and the former chair of the NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria technical committee. Leavitt continues to serve on the committee along with the NFPA 13 Installation committee, as well as the NFPA 3, NFPA 4 909, and 914 technical committees.

Fire Sprinkler System Design and Installation Certificate of Completion

Each participant registered, attending the full Fire Sprinkler System Design and Installation Update webinar or viewing the post-live recorded on-demand version, will receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate complies with International Code Council (ICC) CEU requirements for ICC approved training courses. Fire Smarts is an approved training provider of the ICC. ICC CEU’s are assigned based on 0.1 CEU per training contact hour.

Certificates can be used as supporting documentation for CPD points required for NICET certification. This applies to the “Additional Education” section of NICET Policy #30 on Continuing Professional Development that allows for CPD points for education to advance, broaden and enhance technical knowledge and job skills.

In addition, certificates can be used as supporting documentation for credit hours required for re-certification as part of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) program. Continuing education credit is determined as one credit per training contact hour.

Certificates can also be used as supporting documentation for continuing education (CE) hours for Texas Commission on Fire Protection certifications. Fire Smarts is a continuing education source under “Nationally Recognized Training Providers.” Continuing education hours are determined as one CE hour per training contact hour.
