This webinar is essential for all stakeholders, from building owners and facilities managers, to Authority Having Jurisdiction and service providers. All have a common goal, to appropriately protect buildings and occupants, while understanding and managing the risk factors. This webinar is designed to help all impacted parties gain a better understanding of how to move forward, working together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the webinar, an expert panel focuses on the practical application of what, how, and why fire protection and life safety systems must be maintained at this crucial time. In addition, the panel examines a variety of current challenges including considerations for limiting risk when a facility is unable to complete an inspection, when a correction of deficiencies is deferred, and when a service provider is not available to handle system impairments.

Declarations from the NFPA published guidance on fire protection during the Covid-19 Pandemic are explored throughout the webinar, including:

  • All commercial and/or multi-occupancy residential buildings should maintain fully operational fire and life safety systems as required by the applicable codes and standards.
  • Those responsible for these buildings should adhere to the expected schedules for inspection, testing, and maintenance that are vital to their operation.
  • If those responsible are unable to adhere to the expected schedules for inspection, testing, and maintenance, they should contact their local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Public and private employees who perform the inspection, maintenance and other responsibilities for these systems should be deemed essential workers.
