Backflow preventers, when connected to fire sprinkler lines, have a primary purpose to stop water in the fire sprinkler system from flowing back into the water supply source. To share more about backflow prevention, Telgian Engineering & Consulting fire protection expert Michael Willis will present a Fire Smarts Backflow Prevention in Fire Protection Systems webinar on October 13, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET. The Backflow Prevention in Fire Protection Systems webinar will explore backflow prevention requirements for fire protection systems based on NFPA, USC, ASSE, AWWA, UPC, CSA, UL, and FM standards.
During the webinar, Willis will discuss the different types of backflow prevention assemblies and how each is best utilized. Participants will learn how to determine when a backflow preventer is needed and where it should be located, as well as the proper type of backflow preventer to install.
Upon completion, attendees will be able to explain the purpose of backflow prevention, recognize the different types of backflow prevention assemblies and understand how to select the appropriate assembly type and location.
