Telgian Fire Safety Inspections Code Enforcement WebinarTelgian’s fire protection expert Tom Parrish will present a Code Enforcement Fire Safety Inspections webinar on May 13, 2021 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm Eastern. This course discusses what to expect during an AHJ fire safety inspection of an occupied building, typically conducted by a fire marshal, fire inspector or an engine company. Participants will learn about NFPA 1031 ‘Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner’ and the minimum Job Performance Requirements (JPR) of a fire inspector, as well as best practices identified by the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA).

As a veteran instructor and speaker, Parrish has more than 25 years of experience in fire protection and emergency response and is the Fire Marshal for Putnam Township Michigan, as well as Vice President of Telgian Corporation. He serves on several NFPA technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. Parrish is also the Vice President of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) and is a senior instructor for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician.

Parrish’s presentation will review common issues found during a code enforcement inspection and what documentation should be reviewed related to the sprinkler system, alarm system, hood suppression, fire extinguishers and emergency/exit lighting to ensure life safety. Learning objectives include:

  • Describe common items that will be reviewed during an AHJ fire safety inspection
  • Learn the key documentation typically reviewed to ensure life safety in an occupied building
  • Understand important minimum Job Performance Requirements (JPR) for fire inspectors per NFPA 1031

This webinar complies with ICC CEU requirements for ICC approved training courses (CEUs: 1 contact hour). These can be used as supporting documentation for CPD points, which are required for NICET certification. In addition, certificates of completion for the webinar can be used as supporting documentation for credit hours required for re-certification as part of the UCC program, as well as for Texas Commission on Fire Protection certifications.
