
As a veteran instructor and speaker, Parrish has more than 25 years of experience in fire protection and emergency response and is the Fire Marshal for Putnam Township Michigan, as well as Vice President of Telgian Corporation. He serves on several NFPA technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. Parrish is also the Vice President of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) and is a senior instructor for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician.
Parrish’s presentation will review common issues found during a code enforcement inspection and what documentation should be reviewed related to the sprinkler system, alarm system, hood suppression, fire extinguishers and emergency/exit lighting to ensure life safety. Learning objectives include:
- Describe common items that will be reviewed during an AHJ fire safety inspection
- Learn the key documentation typically reviewed to ensure life safety in an occupied building
- Understand important minimum Job Performance Requirements (JPR) for fire inspectors per NFPA 1031
