Russ Leavitt, Executive Chairman at Telgian Holdings, Inc., will present a Fire Smarts webinar on “Remote Inspections and Testing of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems” on March 19, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET.

The concept of remote inspections and testing of water-based fire protection systems continues to evolve. This course covers how NFPA 13 and 20 address the issue along with the requirements of NFPA 25 and NFPA 915 ‘Standard for Remote Inspections and Tests’. A brief review of the history of remote inspections and tests is presented to help understand the genesis of the concept. The current state of remote inspections and tests will be discussed as well as a look at the future and the impact on building owners, AHJs, installation contractors, and periodic ITM service providers.

Russ Leavitt is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout, and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS). He is a licensed contractor with 43 years of experience in the design, installation, and testing of fire protection systems.

Russ is a member of the NFPA Board of Directors and is the Immediate Past Chair. He serves on numerous NFPA Technical Committees and has authored a number of articles and training materials that are used throughout the industry.
