Featured, Events & News

Tracey Bellamy, Chief Engineering Officer at Telgian Engineering & Consulting
will present this Fire Smarts webinar on January 22, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET.

This course will explore the important and necessary effort to determine the appropriate commodity classification for a stored item. This will include a review of the actual definitions for each commodity presented in NFPA 13 ‘Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems’ along with consideration of potential variations that might exist with both FM 8-1 and the IFC. The application of the definitions will be discussed along with key limitations and the use of the associated Annex materials for appropriate commodity classification. A variety of examples will be provided to illustrate the process of classification including the use of intermediate-scale testing.
