Post 9-11 Safety and Security: What Have We Learned? How have security plans for tall buildings changed since the 9-11 tragedy? Telgian Engineering & Consulting, LLC (TEC) security experts William Sako and Lauris Freidenfelds recently weighed in with WBBM | CBS Chicago on important security advances designed to keep occupants safe.

To prepare for any future attacks, security consultants such as Sako and Freidenfelds have analyzed the security and emergency response on 9-11. “We learned that there were some superhero security directors and emergency managers,” Freidenfelds said. “Their people knew how to get out of the building in a safe and quick manner because they drilled and exercised before that.”

Freidenfelds is Senior Project Manager for Telgian Engineering & Consulting, where he is responsible for the management of complex projects focusing on security and emergency management. He is also a former Director of Security and Emergency Preparedness for a major metropolitan healthcare system. His 40-plus years of experience have given him extensive knowledge of operational security, technology, and emergency management programs.

“The better the police and fire who are responding to a problem in the building can understand the condition of that environment,” Sako said, “the better that they’re aware of what’s going on, the better than can be prepared to save lives when they enter the facility.”

William Sako is one of the most experienced security consultants in the US.  His work spans over five decades and includes government, private companies and educational facilities sectors for the design of physical security measures, technical security systems, operations security programs and counter-terrorism programs, as well as the creation of protective design standards for super towers and comprehensive force protection programs for high-value and government facilities.
