Multifamily Housing Trend: Centralization of Fire ProtectionTo reduce the chance of incidents, maintain proper compliance with fire regulations and keep costs under control, as well as consolidate recordkeeping and streamline processes, many multifamily property owners and operators are turning to the centralization of fire safety systems inspection, testing and maintenance (ITM) activities. Telgian’s Tom Parrish recently weighed in on this important topic in the article “Multifamily Housing Trend: Centralization of Fire Protection” for NAA’s Units magazine.

“Although most owners and property managers are not fire safety experts, they are nevertheless tasked with keeping their residents and communities safe,” says Parrish.  “Fire safety system centralization can be used to reduce risk and ensure compliance.”

Parrish has more than 30 years of experience in fire protection and emergency response and is the retired Fire Marshal for Putnam Township Michigan, as well as Vice President of Telgian. He serves on several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. Parrish is also the President of Automatic Fire Alarm Associate (AFAA) and is a senior instructor for NFPA. His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician.
