Emergency communication systems are commonly found in elevators, stairways, schools, large assembly buildings and high-rise structures and are used to communicate unified information to the building occupants in the event of an emergency. This course will introduce participants to NFPA 72 Chapter 24 which covers the design, installation and maintenance of Emergency Communication Systems.
Participants will become familiar with the scope of this chapter and commonly used mass notification systems including one-way and two-way voice-based systems, as well as elevator phones. This presentation will also review the design and installation requirements for these systems and discuss changes to NFPA 72 directly impacting the use of emergency communication systems.
