Telgian Engineering & Consulting’s Senior Fire Suppression Designer Ben Young will present a Fire Smarts Online Training Opportunity on July 9, 2020, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm Eastern Time. Young’s topic, “Non-Technical Understanding of Fire Sprinkler Systems Design” webinar provides an overview of important fire sprinkler system design considerations for those who do not have a design background.
The presentation will include the basics of occupancy hazard classification, sprinkler location and spacing, special sprinklers, obstruction and temperature issues, as well as basic water supply analysis, information needed to complete plans and calculations. It will also explore some basic survey ‘best practices.’ This presentation will benefit those who oversee, manage or support fire sprinkler system design.
Young has more than 19 years in the fire protection industry, with a focus on fire sprinklers, alarms and special hazard systems. His extensive experience includes both new construction and retrofit projects for public and private sector customers across the US and abroad. Currently, he is a Fire Suppression Design for fire, life safety and security industry leader Telgian Engineering & Consulting.
Young is NICET certified in Water-Based Systems Layout, Special Hazards, and Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, and he holds multiple US government security clearances. As an accomplished speaker, he conducts presentations and seminars across the country on a wide variety of fire protection topics. Recent examples include “It Depends: Fire Sprinkler Design for Non-Designers” at the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) Schuylkill Chapter in Philadelphia, where he is Chairperson.
Non-Technical Understanding of Fire Sprinkler Systems Design Webinar CEUs
Each participant registered, attending the full live training webinar (or viewing the post-live recorded on-demand webinar) will receive a Certificate of Completion, which complies with International Code Council (ICC) CEU requirements for ICC approved training courses.
These Certificates of Completion may be used as supporting documentation for CPD points required for NICET certification, as well as for supporting documentation for credit hours required for re-certification as part of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) program. Certificates may also be used as supporting documentation for continuing education (CE) hours for Texas Commission on Fire Protection certifications.
