Telgian Executive Chairman Russell Leavitt will be the guest speaker at the upcoming American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) Arizona Chapter Meeting. The event, slated for March 29, 2019, will be held at the Phoenix Fire Department in Phoenix, Arizona. Leavitt’s presentation, NFPA 25, Update on Technical Changes for the Next Edition, outlines the proposed modifications to the Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. These include changes that improve usability for owners and service providers.
NFPA 25 is the industry baseline for inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems and comprehensive requirements for maintaining suppression systems for peak performance. According to the NFPA, compliance with the standard helps maximize system integrity, avoid system failures and ensure rapid and effective response in the case of a fire emergency. NFPA 25 also helps building owners, facility managers, inspectors and service providers work together to maximize protection.
With over 38 years of experience, Leavitt is uniquely qualified to present this NFPA 25 Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems seminar. He holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout and a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) designation.
In addition, Leavitt is a Board Member and 2nd Vice-Chair of the National Fire Protection Association and is the Chair of the NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria Technical Committee. He also serves on the NFPA 13 Installation Committee, as well as NFPA 3, NFPA 4 and NFPA 25 Technical Committees.
Leavitt conducts seminars nationally and internationally on a variety of fire and life safety related subjects and has authored numerous industry articles and training materials.
