Telgian Corporation Appoints New Director of Healthcare Services
Salamone brings 30 years of healthcare experience to Telgian
TEMPE, Ariz., (May 06, 2014)—Fire and life safety services provider Telgian Corporation today announced Tom Salamone has joined Telgian as the director of healthcare services. In his new role at Telgian, Salamone will oversee all Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) activities with concentration on CMS, DOH, The Joint Commission requirements, as well as safety, security, OSHA, fire safety, biomedical engineering, physical plant engineering, risk management, firestop, hazmat, life safety and emergency management.
Salamone has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years helping facilities stay in compliance with CMS, DOH and The Joint Commission. He is a well respected coordinator, trainer, educator, consultant and outsourced director with specific experience in accreditation preparation, continuous readiness and environment of care/life safety/emergency management.
Previously, Salamone worked directly for multiple hospitals as their coordinator, and/or their director of safety, security, hazardous materials and waste, fire safety, life safety, emergency management, bio-medical engineering, physical plant engineering, loss prevention and control, risk management, etc. He has also held similar roles as a consultant. For two years, Salamone worked directly for a 350-bed hospital in Connecticut as their director of safety, security, fire safety, life safety, emergency management and clinical engineering. Additionally, he consulted for a 1,000-bed teaching hospital in New York City as their director of fire and life safety, as well as the environment of care coordinator. Salamone also spent time working as a consultant for another large hospital in New York City with 1,500 beds consulting as their utilities management and fire safety coordinator.

Salamone has served, and continues to serve, on numerous boards and task forces, including boards for the healthcare section of NFPA, Long Island Healthcare Life Safety Association, The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Salamone is also a task force member with respect to CMS, The Joint Commission and The American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers (ASHRM). He has authored the writings of standard healthcare policy and procedure development and inspection manuals, and he has spoken as a keynote speaker at many conferences, and conducted training seminars and educational awareness sessions throughout the United States, plus Canada and Europe. Salamone graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He currently resides in Westchester County.
