Loss Control Services:

Telgian has a broad range of loss control services that meet the needs of insurance companies, brokers, and loss control managers from all industries.

At the heart of our loss control offerings is a comprehensive Risk Management program - a one-stop shop for all your risk management needs. From project development, to on-site inspection, to recommendation management, we offer all the services you need to reduce loss and allocate your funds wisely.

Property Loss Control Surveys

The Telgian Highly Protected Risk (HPR) department conducts detailed loss prevention surveys to evaluate a facility for property loss control. Surveys are typically conducted at large, complex industrial and commercial properties. Insurers, insured clients, and other customers use the information gathered, which guarantees the highest level of protection and safety.

To start, we conduct a thorough tour of the location in order to obtain vital information: details on construction, occupancy, protection, and exposures. Fire protection features are reviewed and analyzed to ensure that they are in accordance with nationally recognized standards. We can also witness/conduct pump and hydrant flow tests, drain and inspector test flows, alarm testing, dry pipe valve trip testing, and other related services.

A review of other potential hazards is also completed during the survey. This includes, but is not limited to, an evaluation of exposure to wind storm, flood, burglary and theft, earthquake, or collapse. We also evaluate all inherent exposures at a facility in order to control and prevent loss. Comprehensive, in-depth technical reports are prepared, confirming the facility's conditions and the conclusions made during the survey.

HPR Surveys

Telgian's talented staff performs on-site surveys and generates HPR-quality underwriting reports for use by the insured, the carrier, or the broker. Our engineers are proficient in domestic and applicable international standards and are experienced in handling delicate and sensitive situations.

We will custom tailor our report to suit the needs of the insured, the carrier, and the broker, and use engineering criteria and guidelines accepted by insurance carriers.

Loss Control Program Design

Telgian utilizes a proven method to develop loss control programs tailored to your needs. By understanding your industry, your company, and your facilities, we are able to work in tandem with you to develop the most cost effective loss control programs that are specific to you. We begin with a thorough study of the exposures, hazards, and potential accidents that represent the greatest risk to your company. We also audit your current loss control programs and any loss records. Then, through consultation with you and your employees, we are able to recommend potential improvements. Finally, we deliver an Action Plan detailing the improvements and provide status reports indicating the progress and effectiveness of the program improvements.

New Construction Project Management Services

A full-service fire-protection engineering firm, Telgian provides a comprehensive suite of project design services. We start in the early stages of the project in order to incorporate loss control standards for fire protection and construction of the facility, and can conduct site analysis for suitability of exposures, suitability of water supplies, and suitability of natural hazards. As the project develops, we make regular visits to your facilities to ensure that all systems are installed according to code and to manufacturers' recommended guidelines. Last, we witness final acceptance testing of all systems

Testing and Inspection Services:

Numerous fire protection companies offer testing and inspection services for your facilities, but only Telgian self-performs inspections. That means only Telgian employee experts conduct your inspections. This eliminates conflicts of interest often found when dealing with vendors who outsource for these services.

Telgian streamlines the management process for clients with numerous locations by creating a schedule of regular maintenance services for each site. And your facility managers will have peace of mind knowing that our technicians are experts in the code-enforcement policies of each municipality that they service.

Telgian performs many types of inspections for our clients:

Wet Sprinklers: Every Telgian inspection of wet sprinkler systems begins with a visual evaluation of all accessible fire sprinkler components, including sprinkler heads, piping, valves, and notification devices. Control valves are exercised to verify their operation and to correct tamper switch supervisory signals. A main drain test is conducted to substantiate residual and return static water pressure of the system. Lastly, an inspector’s test is performed to confirm proper function of the water flow switch. Alarm signals are verified upon completion of the test.

Dry Sprinklers: Telgian performs a partial-trip test annually and a full-trip test every three years. Generally, Telgian inspectors trip test each dry pipe valve, flush the main drain, clean and inspect the clapper rubber, and check the air and water supply pressures. Low-points are drained and pipes are visually inspected. Alarm signals are verified upon completion of the test.

Fire Alarm Systems: We start with a check of the fire alarm panel (FACP) to verify that no pre-test problems exist. The functionality of the power supply is then assessed; initiating devices, including smoke detectors, duct detectors, and pull stations are tested and checked at the FACP for confirmation. Next, the sprinkler system components are evaluated, and the basic operation of the fire pump is confirmed. Alarm signals are verified upon completion of the test.

Fire Pump: Inspectors of fire pumps look for a clean room, free from flammable materials, and check to ensure that equipment appears to be in working order. A churn test is then performed to ensure proper operation, at 100% and then at 150% of pump rating. Lastly, the pump is shut down, valves are drained, and batteries are tested.

Fire Extinguisher Inspections and Service: Telgian offers a nationwide fire extinguisher inspection testing service and maintenance program. Telgian handles all scheduling, reporting, verification, and invoicing from one location for personnel assigned to your account.  Telgian also provides 24/7/365 coverage for emergency refills or replacement due to use or damage.

Hood Suppression Systems:  Hood suppression systems are vital fire and life safety components in restaurants as well as companies in the food service and food preparation industries.   The Telgian team has extensive knowledge of operating, inspecting and servicing issues for hood devices. Among our suite of services, we offer regular inspections that meet your schedule, protect your budget and keep your facilities compliant with local regulations. We also have an emergency response team that can immediately assist you in a time of crisis.
