The series takes place July 21 – 22 at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in San Francisco, CA.
Russ will cover NFPA 20 (2010 edition) on Thursday and NFPA 25 (2011 edition) on Friday.

Heading to BOMA Every Building Show in Washington DC

BOMA 2011

The exhibit hall opens on Sunday afternoon with a Welcome Party where the 2000+ attendees will gather to share ideas and resources for advancing their areas of expertise in building management, including how to reduce operating expenses and save energy. Over the course of the three-day show, there will be over 40 education sessions focused addressing today's challenges and identifying marketplace opportunities. The Expo kicks off on Sunday with a networking reception from 6:00 – 7:30 pm in the Expo Hall. The exhibition continues on Monday from 11am to 4pm and Tuesday from 10am to 2pm. The Association Technical Meeting will begin on Tuesday at 2pm, continuing on Wednesday at 8am. Certified amending motions may be presented on NFPA 51A, 79 and 2001 during these meetings. Our Executive Chairman, Russ Leavitt, will be speaking at a five-day seminar held in Rotterdam, Netherlands May 9 - 13, 2011.

The NFPA Professional Development Series, hosted by MARSH Netherlands in association with NFPA, will cover NFPA 13, 20 & 25.

The NFPA is a globally acknowledged and accepted authority in the field of fire prevention and their standards are universally adopted and applied around the world. In order to support these fundamentals and the growing network of fire engineering practitioners, the NFPA has committed to establishing the same training in Europe that was previously only available in the US.

Pat Tesche, our Vice President of Firestop, is speaking at the 2011 WABO Annual Education Institute in Seattle on Thursday, March 31, 2011 along with  Brice Miller and Bob Eugene of UL. This training session will cover firestop provisions of the 2009 International Building Code for plans examin­ers, inspectors, fire officials, architects and engineers.

Wayne Barrow, from the firestop division, will be speaking on Avoiding Firestop Liability at the Lake Street Community Fire Station in Nashua, New Hampshire on March 25, 2011 8-10 am.
 
The free educational seminar is sponsored by the Nashua Fire Marshal's Office and Nashua Department of Building Safety. The event is designed to help General Contractors, Construction Managers, Facility Managers and Sub-contractors meet governing codes for firestop installation that will minimize loss of life and liability.

Wayne Barrow, from the firestop division, will be speaking at the International Firestop Council Seminar on March 10, 2011 9am-1pm at the Best Western, Royal Plaza in Marlboro, Massachusetts.

The International Firestop Council created this presentation to educate the enforcement industry on the importance of having a balanced approach to fire protection, to introduce the passive fire protection industry, and why it is important to install passive fire protection systems correctly and tips on the proper inspection of firestop systems.
