June 2008              CFPS Results Announced

Results from the CFPS tests taken in May were released last week and 10 Telgian employees received their CFPS certifications.  Congratulations!

 

June 2008              2008 NFPA World Safety Conference and Exhibition

Telgian had a strong presence at the NFPA Show in Las Vegas this month.  In addition to hosting, participating in and attending sessions and exhibiting at our booth, our very own Tom Parrish was busy instructing the “Introduction to Fire Alarm Systems” seminar.  The class was filled to capacity and was well received by those that attended.  Please see the article on the NFPA website for more information.  http://nfpa.typepad.com/wsce/2008/06/introduction-to.html

 

June 2008              Telgian Provides Training in Saudi Arabia

Earlier this month, Telgian CEO Russ Leavitt spent six days in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia teaching a week long professional development series for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).  The training session was sponsored by SABIC, a Saudi owned petrochemical company.

Juan Olivari has been named Vice President of Telgian’s new Latin American Division. Bill Holden has taken on the role of Executive Vice President of Operations. 

 

May 2008                Telgian launches new brand at RIMS in San Diego.

RIMS 2008 was a real success for Telgian. The Risk and Insurance Management Society show that was held in San Diego. We had excellent customer meetings and traffic through our new booth was steady. In addition to the traditional loss control services we typically market at RIMS, we found a great deal of interest in Telgian’s other services.

 

April 2008               Trade show season shifts into high gear!

                               

Telgian’s first trade show of 2008 also turned out to be one of our most successful.  SPECS 2008 (Store Planning, Equipment, and Construction Services Seminar) is produced by Chain Store Age Magazine and focuses on the retail construction and maintenance industries.  The Telgian booth was constantly busy with show attendees eager to learn about our fire & life safety construction and compliance services.

April has been a busy month for Telgian trade show activities.  Fresh off the hugely successful SPECS show in March, Telgian was represented at the following shows in April:  PRSM 2008, Professional Retail Store Maintenance show held in Orlando, NA08, which is a show focused on the material handling industry that was held in Cleveland.

 

March 2008            Telgian kicks off monthly virtual training sessions.

A training session presented by Russ Mower about recent changes to the International Fire Code kicked off Telgian’s Virtual Training Seminar program.  The monthly training sessions will alternate focus each month.  Future monthly training sessions will focus on technical topics, such as loss control survey techniques, as well as basic productivity skills, such as effective e-mail use.

 

March 2008            Juan Olivari selected to speak at Americas’ Fire & Security Expo 2008

Juan Olivari, Telgian’s Construction Supervisor for Mexico, has been selected to conduct an educational session at America’s Fire & Security Expo in Miami Beach this coming July.  Juan will be making a presentation on “Fire Protection Systems in Big Box Retail Stores” in Spanish to conference attendees.

December 2007     Telgian’s second EIT class starts their training

Our second group of college graduate engineers has started their new careers at Telgian. As with their predecessors, they are beginning their training in our Testing and Inspections department. All four are Mechanical Engineers.

 

December 2007     NICET update

Twenty-one Telgian associates successfully passed their respective NICET examinations that were conducted in our Atlanta offices this past month.  Examinations were conducted in the following areas:  Sprinkler System Layout, Fire Alarm, Water-Based Testing & Inspection as well as Special Hazards Suppression Systems.  Congratulations to all those who passed!

 

November 2007     2007 Telgian Leadership Meeting Review

Telgian held its annual Leadership Meeting this month at their Phoenix offices.  Among the item discussed were the upcoming revisions to the corporate vision statement and the unification of TVA Fire & Life Safety and Fire Materials Group under the Telgian brand. 

 

September 2007    Telgian’s first EITs enter training program

We hired our first four college graduate engineers into the Telgian family this month. All are Mechanical Engineers from universities across the United States. They will begin working in our Testing and Inspections Department as part of their journey through our training program, and towards achieving their professional engineering designation.

 

May 2007                Risk Solutions announces new product offering in CAT Exposure Analysis. 

TVA Fire & Life Safety (a Telgian Company) announced a new product offering in CAT Exposure Analysis.  This service allows us to capture data to support clients modeling of wind and earthquake exposures.

 

May 2007                NICET training updates.

Our NICET training and testing session is upon us.  The training will be held next Thursday and Friday in Detroit with the test being administered on Saturday.  We have approximately 30 associates that are participating in the areas of Fire Alarm, Inspections and Testing, and Fire Sprinkler.  The next training sessions and tests will be in Atlanta in September.

 

May 2007                Oklahoma TVA office opens. 

TVA Fire & Life Safety (a Telgian Company) opens an office in Tulsa Metro area offering design, consulting and system analysis.

 

April 2007               Telgian launches Fire Protection training program for recent college graduates. 

Telgian kicks off Engineer In Training (EIT) program, focusing on the industry wide shortage of trained FPEs and Loss Control staff. 

 

April 2007               Tracy Lexa awarded the 2007 Pat Ryan Award.

February 2007       Telgian board of directors formally launches the Telgian brand as a single banner for

                                  all customers.

 

February 2007       NICET testing program and upcoming schedule

Telgian will be continuing the push to broaden the NICET certification efforts by hosting 2 additional NICET examinations at company locations this year. We will be leveraging the lessons learned from a successful NICET examination that was hosted in our Tempe office for the Maintenance T&I Field Inspectors in December

2006. The current plan is to conduct these NICET examinations in our Detroit office in late May, and in our Atlanta office in October.

 

 

January 2007         TVA Becomes a Member of the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA). 

It was announced this week that TVA Fire & Life Safety (a Telgian Company) is now a Supplier [engineering, design, consulting services] and Manufacturer (SAM) member of the National Fire Sprinkler Association.

 

October 2006         TVA becomes part of Telgian.  Centralization of core services Finance, HR, IT.

With this week’s announcement that TVA is now a part of Telgian, it is more apparent than ever that Telgian offers an expanded and well integrated bundle of services delivering a very convenient and powerful set of unified solutions to Fire, Life Safety and Risk purchasers. 

 

August 2006          CEO Russ Leavitt addresses AFSA

Telgian CEO Russ Leavitt recently returned from delivering an address to the North-Central Chapter of the American Fire Sprinkler Association.  This association chapter covers the states of North and South Dakota and Minnesota.  Russ noted that he continues to be impressed by the increasing recognition of TVA and Fire Materials Group.  Our name(s) have long been recognized by many industry stalwarts and executives, but the recognition now extends to all ranks within the fire protection, life safety, and risk communities.  Everyone seems to know us.  According to Russ, “Now when I speak, though, my introduction and bios refer to Telgian, and that generates many questions and opportunities to explain who we are. It is a great story and folks are intrigued by us and curious as to what our goals are. We need to take advantage of this and the opportunity for increased industry and market awareness.” 

 

June 2006               Telgian Board of directors approves acquisition / absorption  of TVA and Fire Materials

                                   Group.

 

March 2006            Establishment of Telgian Academy, New Associate Orientation (NAO) is first initiative.

It was announced this month that the former TVA Leadership 7 program will be transformed into the Telgian Academy.  This is one small example of the many Fire Materials Group and TVA training programs that will be evaluated and then revised, incorporated, or deleted from the Telgian Academy menu. In addition, the first new Telgian New Associate Orientation (NAO) sessions have been scheduled for March and April. These will continue to be held a minimum of 6 times each year. 

 

January 2006         TotalVision 2.0 brings the power of the next generation of data management to Telgian’s

                                   customers.

Our latest release provides our customers the flexibility to customize the data they need collected as well as to establish risk rating for these critical data fields. We are also able to provide customized reporting much easier than in previous versions. The additional feature of our new system allows us to capture data at a building level as opposed to the industry standard site level. This puts more precise data in our customer’s hands.

 

 

December 2005     Initial Fire Materials Group / TVA turnover discussions

During the last TVA/ Fire Materials Group it was announced that we currently have 270 associates located in 32 states, 12 domestic corporate and regional offices (New Jersey, Atlanta, Dallas, St Louis, Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago (new), Seattle, Long Beach, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Tempe), an office in London U.K., and an ever-growing and impressive list of customers.    2006 will bring an even more amazing look.   As for the transition to Telgian, here is where we are at this time:  • Finance has completely transitioned to a single operating group.  Planning for the transition to a single accounting platform will begin after turn-over. • Information Technology operational transition is complete. • Human Resources team transition is complete, and the combining of benefits, procedures, training, etc. is well under way.   • Sales and Marketing transition plan is nearly complete and will be ready for implementation at turn-over. • The operation transition plan is progressing smoothly.  Priorities were established and reviewed at this week’s combined management meeting.  We are one company and we will make all decisions based on what is good for Telgian.  We will measure our performance as Telgian.
