Giving back. It’s a cornerstone of the Telgian culture. Our company and its team members contribute hundreds of volunteer hours and generous donations each year to the communities where we live and work.

And we support a wide range of community programs and initiatives. For example, our employees’ volunteer efforts may extend from outwardly focused support of charitable organizations to inwardly focused efforts targeted at taking care of one of our own in times of catastrophic need.

Telgian also frequently champions the causes and organizations supported by our customers with corporate sponsorships and donations.

Supporting Our Nation’s Veterans

WII (Wounded, Ill and Injured) Wellness
Telgian President & CEO Jim Tomes and wife Melinda are both active in WII Wellness. WII is a comprehensive program that encompasses therapeutic recreation, fitness and adapted sports in the rehabilitation of wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans with permanent or temporary physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities. The ultimate goal is to enhance and renew each participant’s quality of life through ongoing participation in therapeutic activities. The Tomes participate weekly in the project’s surfing program, in which wounded warriors are brought to Del Mar, San Diego from the nearby Navy Medical Center to not only develop muscles but also to explore life and grow emotionally.

Home Depot Community Building Invitational

Telgian was a Gold Sponsor of client Home Depot’s 2014 Community Building Invitational to help make the Home Depot Foundation’s goal of improving the homes of U.S. military veterans a reality. Telgian associates joined the roofing team for a Habitat for Humanity house building project and Telgian sponsored and participated in the invitational event golf tournament.

Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors

In November 2014, members of the Telgian team worked with Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors and other volunteers on a project with particular significance to the Telgian family – a new home for Army Ranger Sgt. First Class Cory Remsburg, son of Telgian executive Craig Remsburg. Cory, who was first introduced to the nation during President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address, was very seriously wounded by an improvised explosive device while serving his tenth deployment in Afghanistan. On July 11, 2014, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors hosted a remodel commencement ceremony and broke ground on a new home for Cory, designed for his special needs. The Telgian team supported the project with a donation of the manpower and plans for a residential fire sprinkler system for Cory’s new home and worked with Victaulic to secure donation of sprinkler heads and additional volunteer manpower for the installation. The installation was completed on Veterans Day 2014.

“I don’t know how others spent their Veterans Day,” said Bob Caputo, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Executive Vice President of Compliance Solutions for Telgian,” but I spent mine with a great group of people, doing something we all believe in, for a true American hero and patriot.”
